Privacy Policy日
Mandarin Day turns an English story from your day into a Mandarin lesson. This policy explains the limited data needed to provide that feature.
What we collect
- Journal content: the English text you review and submit, the generated Mandarin text, languages, and creation time.
- Installation identifier: a random identifier created by the app. We hash it before associating it with stored journal content.
- Network information: Cloudflare processes the requesting IP address and a one-way hash is used for short-lived abuse and rate-limit controls. We do not add the raw IP address to the journal database.
Audio recordings are not sent to Mandarin Day's server. Speech recognition is provided by iOS; the resulting text is only sent after you review it and choose to continue.
How we use and share data
Your submitted English text passes through our service on Cloudflare and is sent to Xiaomi MiMo, a third-party AI service, only to generate your Mandarin lesson. Xiaomi's MiMo API privacy policy states that submitted content is not used for model training or other purposes. Mandarin Day does not use journal content for advertising, tracking, profiling, or model training.
Cloudflare hosts our API and encrypted database. Xiaomi MiMo provides the AI generation service. We require service providers to protect data consistently with this policy and applicable law.
Storage, retention, and deletion
Journal text is stored in Cloudflare D1 so Mandarin Day can maintain journal history. It remains until you delete the cloud copies from Privacy & Cloud Data in the app, or ask us to delete it. Deletion removes active database rows associated with the app's pseudonymous installation identifier. Provider backups may expire on their normal limited schedule.
Journal entries also remain locally on your device until you remove the app or its data. Deleting cloud copies does not remove those local entries.
Your choices
Before the first AI request, the app asks for explicit permission and shows what is sent and who receives it. You can withdraw that permission at any time in Privacy & Cloud Data; the app will ask again before any later AI request. You may also delete your cloud journal copies there.
